Inclusiveness Diversity Identity

"True Belonging only happens when we present our authentic, imperfect selves to the world, our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self-acceptance."

Inclusiveness Diversity Identity

All children have the right to an inclusive and diverse environment with the opportunity to own  their identity and culture.

Inclusion is defined as making every effort for including and making spaces for opportunities for all children and families in early childhood programs. That children and families should not be marginalized for being a minority, their culture, economic disadvantage, gender, or differences in physical, mental or intellectual abilities. It is about supporting all children and families. Inclusion

Diversity is defined as the differences and uniqueness of children and families. That each child is accepted regardless of personality, characteristics, beliefs, values and life experiences. Diversity

Identity is defined as personal identity, how one identifies themselves. It is important for educators to understand their own self identity. This can be done through reflecting on their world view, cultural biases, and personal identity. It is important for educators to first understand themselves in order to put into practice the acceptance of understanding others. It is through modeling and responsive caring relationships where children come to understand their uniqueness and their self identity. Identity

Inclusion, diversity and identity have different meanings throughout cultures and time. Therefore it is important to have an open document that works toward continuous positive change.
