View of the Family

"Families are like branches on a tree, we grow in different directions yet our roots remain as one."

View of the Family

Families are valued as children’s first teachers of culture, identity, heritage, community and their child’s development.

The family's role should be honored as that of the first connection of building relationships. Families should be supported in their journey of their child’s experience outside their home life.

The family has the right for communication and to be listened to without judgment. Listening is defined as taking time to hear another's perspective, point of view, ideas, concerns, frustrations, challenges and worries. Communication should be offered to families in an emotionally responsive way that meets them where they are at in a non judgemental way.

Working collaboratively with families giving them a voice to be involved in their child’s education and the care they receive.

Keys to well Being with Children and Youth

Families have the right for transitions into childcare or programs that meet the needs of the child and families. Transitions that are too abrupt and where there is no time to build trust and connection with the educator or caregiver before separation from the child’s primary attachment can cause anxiety and stress for the child and families. Transitions that support trust and connection gives the families and the child a sense of security, promotes resilience and psychological wellbeing.

Families have the right to have their culture, language, way of being, parenting style, and beliefs to be respected and honored.
